The Culture Buffet is back again this year. With a record number of mouth‑watering activities registered to date, Quebecers will have lots to choose from!

Les Journées de la culture municipal declaration

The municipalities of Château‑Richer, Dunham, Kamouraska, Lac-Brome, Lac‑Mégantic, Potton, Saint‑André, Sainte‑Eulalie, Sainte‑Florence, Saint‑Jean‑de‑Brébeuf and Saint‑Luc‑de‑Bellechasse have signed the declaration proclaiming the last Friday of September and the next two days as "Les Journées de la culture." See the full lineup!

Je m'affiche pour la cultureMunicipalities will show their support for culture

Seventeen Quebec municipalities so far have confirmed their participation in the Je m’affiche pour la culture! project and will offer their citizens a unique opportunity to express the importance of culture in their lives.

During Les Journées de la culture, citizens will be invited to an iconic location in their city where special activities will take place. They can have their picture taken by professional photographers and contribute a written statement about the importance of culture in their lives. The photos will be added to a large online photo gallery at www.jemaffichepourlaculture.com.

Also check out the photos of participants at the annual conference of Les Arts et la Ville, who expressed their support for culture on May 5 and 6. www.jemaffichepourlaculture.com

Time Out…For School GroupsTime Out…For School Groups

We have also received an excellent response to the call for participation sent to the education sector. Twenty‑odd schools in the English Montreal School Board are organizing a huge cultural circuit for Les Journées de la culture. On Friday, September 24, students will exhibit their artwork and the traditional clothing, cooking and crafts of the different ethnic groups represented in their schools. Participating classes will also be able to visit exhibitions put on by other schools in their neighbourhood. Students will be on hand to provide explanations, and there will also be encounters with teachers, guest artists and, of course, the young artists!

Elementary and high schools wishing to participate in these exclusive cultural activities during Les Journées de la culture can have them included in our Time Out… For School Groups program.

Give us a call at 514-864-7907 or watch our website for the unveiling of the 2010 Journées de la culture programming, at www.journeesdelaculture.qc.ca

Art at workArt in the workplace

Culture pour tous is proud to announce the new organizations that will enable their employees to participate in a collective creative project this summer as part of the 4th edition of Art at Work.

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC is welcoming the artist Madeleine Turgeon with "Sortir du cadre", a collective project consisting of two mosaics depicting the nature of the region’s territory.

The union affiliated with the CSSS Nord Lanaudière is mobilizing amateur singers and musicians on its staff to put on a show to be documented by Radhanata Gagnon, a local photographer and filmaker.

The Centre de la petite enfance Les petits mulots in Quebec City will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its first equipment by having the painter Marie-Chantal Lachance from SautOzieux Création create two collective murals based on children’s drawings.

Association Pipeline is sponsoring an artwork honouring Sophie Brochu of Gaz Métro and Jacques Régis of Projet 80, who were named 2009 Personality of the Year for their commitment to the project "80, ruelle de l’Avenir". This collective work will be created by an artist, students and teachers in the hallway of the École Garneau annex in Montreal’s Centre-Sud neighbourhood.
