Cultural Occupation of the "MAIN"

presented by Société de développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent
200 creators, 75 activities, 50 cultural institutions and organizations 24 hours of peaceful occupation designed to discover the effervescence of the “Main” and to highlight the 100th anniversary of Saint-Laurent Boulevard. Significant presence in Parcs de la Paix, des Amériques, du Portugal and Lahaie.

From Friday, September 30th at Midnight to Saturday October 1st at Midnight, the “Main” comes alive with experimental workshops, demonstrations, performances as well as guided tours and opportunities to get together. And for the first time, at 10 p.m., in the tradition of the “spoken word”, Les Filles électriques host “Spécial Shift de nuit / Night Shift” at Casa del Popolo.

Also, Journées de la culture spokesperson and bass guitarist Melissa Auf der Maur hosts a festive night at Main Hall that lasts till 3 a.m. A multilingual historical tour is offered by Les amis du boulevard Saint-Laurent and L’autre Montréal to celebrate the Boulevard’s 100th anniversary.

22 companies and organizations personify theatre in all its forms and, for the most part, perform outside their regular areas of entertainment. These activities are the piece de resistence from a diversified program including architecture, visual arts, métier d’art, media art and multimedia, cinema, video, dance, literature, music, culture and history. Several artists invade parks around the “Main”; interacting with spectators is just part of the fun!
