Call to artists, craftspersons, cultural workers,
municipalities, businesses, organizations and educational institutions
The Journées de la culture were established in 1997 to promote and strengthen cultural democratization efforts in Quebec by showing citizens the necessity, usefulness and social value of the arts and culture. Every year, for three days, the Journées instigate activities that facilitate encounters between artists, craftspersons and cultural workers and their fellow citizens.
By turning the spotlight onto artistic and cultural life in all sectors, the Journées de la culture are increasingly serving as a platform to assert and demonstrate the value and importance of the arts and culture in the development of individuals and society as a whole.

Promotional campaign
Artists and organizations that meet the conditions and specific criteria of the 11th edition (collaboration and innovation) will be grouped under the recognized banner of the Journées de la culture for a Quebec-wide promotional campaign that includes advertising, national media relations, newspaper inserts and an interactive Web site.
Promotional material such as posters, balloons and pennants will be provided to the participants to improve visibility and help in their outreach efforts.
In 1997, at the request of the cultural sector, the Quebec National Assembly adopted a special motion designating the last Friday of September and the two following days as "Journées nationales de la culture."
The Journées de la culture are orchestrated by Culture pour tous.
