In the fall of 2006, Culture pour tous joined forces with the Alliance de recherche universités-communautés en économie sociale (ARUC-ÉS) and the Service aux collectivités de l’Université du Québec à Montréal (SAC / UQAM) in order to set up a working group aimed at developing professional and academic expertise in the field of cultural mediation.

The research group was established to respond to the need for information and training expressed by numerous cultural and municipal organizations and representatives, who are seeking to develop new relations with diverse populations while putting forward new approaches to the appropriation of artistic processes and cultural productions.

Among its objectives, the partnership aims to enrich professional practices in cultural mediation; put into place the conditions, opportunities and sites for meetings between the various actors; and mobilize the cultural and academic sectors to help develop Quebec expertise in this field.

1. Review of literature on cultural and artistic mediation (spring 2007)

2. Production of a special issue of Laboratoire d’animation et de recherche culturelles (LARC), featuring articles by seven researchers and a summary of the survey conducted among nine Quebec arts and community organizations (fall 2007)

3. Professional seminar attended by around 30 representatives of the cultural, community and municipal sectors (December 6, 2007)

4. Production of a typological study on the projects developed in 2005-2008 within the three mediation programs of the City of Montréal and the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine (MCCCF).
