This year’s Culture Buffet is bigger than ever before!

It’s back to school and time for the 14th edition of the Journées de la culture on September 24, 25 and 26.

The event continues to gain in popularity, and 18% more free activities will be offered

Viv Ayiti: Discovering Haitian culture in Montréal

Through hip hop, poetry, gastronomy and fashion, Viv Ayiti will explore Haitian culture with over 50 artists in 9 locations and cultural institutions across Montréal.

The future of our territories: A shared vision

In June, Solidarité rurale du Québec filed a submission with the Ministère des Affaires municipales, des régions et de l'Occupation des territories entitled L’occupation des territoires, pour un Québec fort de ses communautés. The 92-page report is based on the findings of an extensive perspectives study and consultation process that involved several national organizations, including Culture pour tous.

How can we value the adoption of a cultural approach in contemporary social work? Since 2006, a working group of the Walloon organization Culture et Démocratie has been exploring the impacts of cultural practices on social worker training. A special publication released by the Laboratoire des innovations sociales / Labiso outlines the initiative’s conclusions and research approach. www.labiso.be

This spring, French writer and journalist Frédéric Martel published an insightful book on cultural industry upheaval in the digital age (Éditions Flammarion). Inspire ArtFocus on community arts

With a special focus on Montréal, Inspire Art is an authority site on community art from the Canadian and international perspectives. Created in 2009 by young academics, the site has become a promotional and archival tool for socially-committed organizations, networks and collaborative projects.
