In fact the high number of cultural organizations who registered for the upcoming edition, which will take place on next September 26, 27 and 28, once again proves that the Journées de la culture represent a unique occasion to celebrate the importance of arts and culture in our society.

Art at Work: seeking companies

Art at work

Do you know a company that would like to receive an artist in its workplace to create an artwork with its employees? Let us know by clicking here.

At this point seven companies have confirmed their participation for the 2nd edition: CPE Premiers Pas (La Tuque), Molson Canada (Montréal), Plastiques Gagnon (Saint-Jean-Port-Joli), TD Meloche Monnex (Laval), Ubisoft (Québec City), as well as the cities of Laval and Longueuil.

International Forum on artistic and cultural mediation

Forum on artistic and cultural mediation Culture pour tous is preparing its 5th international forum on the evolution of cultural democratization in Québec and the world, which is to be held in Montréal from December 4 to 5, 2008.

Experts form here and elsewhere will participate, among which let us mention: William Cleveland (US), Marie-Christine Bordeaux (France), François Matarasso (UK), Louis Jacob (Montréal) and Melanie Fernandez (Toronto).

La Rencontre follows in the wake of the research undertaken by the Cultural Mediation Research Group Culture pour tous / ARUC-ÉS and SAC (UQAM). Registration will take place in autumn.

Collective works created for the Rallye de la diversité

Rallye de la diversité
Culture pour tous is overseeing and coordinating the creation of four collective works produced by Québécois artists of diverse origins; this event involves the collaboration of citizens from four cities targeted by the Rallye de la diversité 2008: Granby (Sept 23), Sherbrooke (Sept 24), Victoriaville (Sept 25) and Québec City (Sept 26). The works will be unveiled during the 400 km bicycle rally organized in celebration of Québec City’s 400 year anniversary.

Portrait of a Teacher who is passionate about the Cultural Logbook
Julie Turcotte, a teacher at the Saint-Gabriel school in Ferland-et-Boilleau (Saguenay), has been using the Logbook since its creation in 2004 and has now been won over by its online version. For her, this learning tool allows one to forge links between her students’ personal culture and that of the rest of the world, while also fostering exchanges between the two. An exemplary use of the resource that was appreciated by both the teacher and her students! Read the article. (in French).

Regional Development Symposium Regional Development Symposium
The Centre de recherche sur le développement territorial (CRDT) is to host an international symposium at the Université du Québec à Rimouski: “Territoires et action publique territoriale: nouvelles ressources pour le développement regional” (Territories and Public Territorial Action: new resources for regional development). The event is expected to bring together between 200 and 300 specialists. (in French)

Biennale du lin Appel aux artistes professionnels
La Biennale internationale du lin de Portneuf, événement artistique et culturel mettant en lumière les pratiques contemporaines liées au lin, invite les artistes à soumettre un projet artistique lié au paysage et impliquant la collectivité. La troisième édition aura lieu à l’été 2009 au Lac‑Sergent.
